Introducing ONLINE FACE®
Course: Class 1 Electrician Periodic Course
This statutory course keeps Class 1 electricians up to date on knowledge, techniques and regulations after their license is issued.
Attendance is mandatory every five years; failure to attend can suspend the validity of the license.
The course covers electrical-facility technical standards, safety measures, regulatory amendments and accident-prevention cases.
Completion is granted by attending the prescribed hours and understanding the content (there is no examination).
Courses are run by registered training bodies, in person or partly online.
It is an important renewal system that carries social responsibility for safe and precise electrical work.
Background
Class 1 electricians must attend periodic training within five years of licensing and every five years thereafter (Electricians Act, Art. 4-3), to keep their technical and safety knowledge current.
Given the significance of the course, we moved it online to give participants in regional and remote areas equal learning opportunities.
Results
Going online has established a framework in which courses can be taken from anywhere in the country, giving participants in regional and remote areas equal learning opportunities.
Courses can also proceed without interruption when travel is difficult due to weather or disasters, securing stable learning opportunities and strengthening resilience.
Because participants can study flexibly at home or at work around their schedules and family circumstances, completion rates and satisfaction have improved.
The burden of schedule changes and venue arrangements has also fallen sharply, greatly simplifying application management and operations. Operating costs are more efficient, contributing to stable course pricing and sustained service quality going forward.
Outlook
We will develop "hybrid" courses flexibly combining fully online and classroom formats, responding to diverse learning styles and corporate training needs. Individually optimized learning delivers deeper understanding and higher satisfaction.
Moving beyond one-way video viewing, we will raise interactivity through chat, quizzes, real-time feedback and VR/AR materials to improve retention and concentration.
By accumulating and analyzing learning data such as attendance logs and test results, AI-driven progress management and study advice will provide support optimized for each participant.
Looking ahead to the needs of international technical trainees and overseas subsidiaries, we will promote multilingual online courses in languages such as Nepali and Vietnamese, contributing to global human-resource development.
Beyond construction, we will work on a common platform for online training in collaboration with other industries, municipalities and educational institutions, helping digital education become social infrastructure.
