Under the Industrial Safety and Health Act, workplaces of certain industries and sizes must appoint a safety officer to manage technical safety matters.

Since October 1, 2006, appointment requirements have been revised (Ordinance Art. 5): safety officers must be appointed from those who have completed training designated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, and officers with under two years’ experience must also complete it. Our Safety Officer Appointment Training corresponds to this ministerial training.

We began offering online statutory courses through e-learning in 2021.

Our previous system relied heavily on manual work for identity checks and attendance management, leaving issues from the standpoint of fraud prevention and legal compliance.

With further business growth in view, we needed a new system that could deliver more reliable identity verification and anti-fraud functions while streamlining operations at the same time.

■ More reliable identity verification

Previously, staff verified each participant visually, leaving concerns about impersonation and other fraud. For statutory courses in particular, proving that "the participant themselves properly completed the training" is critical.

With ONLINE FACE®, patented AI facial recognition automatically matches the participant’s face against their photo ID and verifies identity at login, at the start of the course and throughout it. Absences and fraud (fast-forward tools, unauthorized browsing and so on) are also detected automatically, maintaining strict supervision at all times.

This has greatly strengthened deterrence against fraud and enabled reliable, legally compliant operation. The data involved is properly managed with full consideration for personal-information protection, so we can operate with confidence.

Checking submitted IDs, verifying identities and sending guidance e-mails all used to be manual, limiting how many online courses we could run.

ONLINE FACE® automated this work, dramatically reducing administrative effort. A small team can now sustain stable operations, enabling continuous, flexible course delivery.

■ Better usability

Our previous system was complex enough to require a training manual of dozens of pages, and inquiries about how to operate it were a real cost.
